Royal Family break Meghan Markle birthday tradition with no wishes yet for Duchess

Meghan Markle is celebrating her 42nd birthday today, but it seems as though the Royal Family have decided against sharing any public tributes to the Duchess of Sussex

Members of the Royal Family seem to have decided against publicly wishing Meghan Markle a happy birthday as the Duchess of Sussex turns 42.

Meghan and her husband Prince Harry stepped away from the Royal Family back in 2020, but that hadn't stopped them from wishing her a happy birthday in recent years. Members of The Firm have previously come together to share tributes to Meghan on social media.

When Meghan and Harry first moved to America, it was the late Queen who led the birthday wishes to her. Sharing a post on the Royal Family's Instagram account, she said: "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday."

In the picture, Meghan was seen smiling with Queen Elizabeth during a royal outing. Prince William and Kate Middleton and King Charles and Camilla also sent their special birthday wishes to Meghan.

A year later, members of the Royal Family took to Twitter to share snaps of Meghan to celebrate her birthday. William and Kate wrote: "Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!".

The Royal Family's Twitter account shared pictures of Meghan with Harry as well as snaps of her with the Queen. They captioned the post: "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!"

Last year, the Firm shared similar happy birthday messages to Meghan on Twitter, but their Instagram posts were notably different. Instead of sharing pictures of Meghan on their profiles, they instead shared their posts to Instagram Stories, which expire after 24 hours.

And this year the birthday posts have disappeared all together. In previous years, members of the Royal Family have wished Meghan a happy birthday at 9am, but they have yet to post anything on their social media accounts.

Instead, William and Kate took to Twitter to share their congratulations as the team behind the documentary Rhino Man announced they have been nominated for an award. The couple wrote: "Congratulations to the RHINO MAN team! Such an important story being told, great to see it being recognised."

Despite seeming to snub Meghan, it is possible that the family could be waiting until it is 9am in California where the Duchess is based. The Mirror has approached representatives for the Royal Family for comment.
